Common Issues During Breastfeeding:
Baby Not Latching Well?
Establishing an effective latch will eliminate pain during breastfeeding and ensure your baby is best setup to drink milk. Signs of latching issues can include: pain during breastfeeding, clicking sounds during feeding, frequently releasing the nipple, fussy during feeding. If your baby is experiencing latching difficulty, I can help guide you both to establish a strong foundation with breastfeeding.
Milk Supply Concerns?
Milk Supply issues can range from low milk supply to an over-supply. Signs you may have low milk supply include: Poor weight gain, frequent feeding with little satisfaction, not enough wet diapers. Signs of an over-supply can include: Baby choking or coughing during feeding, overactive letdown, excessive gas and spitting up. I can help you manage your milk supply so that both you and baby are happy.
Clogged Ducts/Mastitis?
A clogged milk ducts occurs when milk flow is blocked in one of the breast ducts. If left untreated, it can lead to mastitis infection. Symptoms of a clogged duct can include: a hard, tender lump, pain or discomfort. Mastitis symptoms can include: painful breast that appears red and hot, fever and flu-like symptoms, burning sensation during breastfeeding. Prompt treatment is essential in managing clogged ducts to prevent mastitis. I can help you with effective methods to treat them.
